Dr. Arlene Amato grew up in Nashua New Hampshire and moved to Colorado in 1984 to attend the United States Air Force Academy. She left the program in two years after deciding to pursue a career in veterinary medicine. Her undergraduate degree was completed at UCCS where she graduated with a Masters of Arts in Biology with a minor in Psychology. She attended Colorado State University College of Veterinary Medicine and Biomedical Sciences graduating in 1999. She has been the owner/ practitioner at Our Family Vet since 2007.
Dr. Amato enjoys gardening and has several raised vegetable garden beds at home. She also enjoys trail biking with her family in the summer and taking vacations to Myrtle Beach, S.C. on an annual basis. Other relaxation is found in reading, artwork, and cooking. Several of Dr. Amato’s personal works of art are on display in the hospital. At home, her furry children consist of dogs, cats, birds, and a rabbit. The small fuzzies have a special place in her heart and she enjoys working with them regardless of the fact that medical diagnosis and treatment of such small creatures is often very difficult.
